I sell insurance. I used to have an office, but it was very expensive and I only needed it five or six hours a week. Most of the time I spent on the phone, talking to prospective clients or working with existing clients to address their concerns or help them with their insurance needs.
I gave up my office two years ago. After that, I had been working out of my house and visiting people at their homes or offices. While this was a convenience for some of those people, this was obviously a burden on many others. No matter how much they tried to reassure me that it was not an imposition, it was uncomfortable for both of us for them to host my visit. Occasionally, I would meet a client at a local coffee shop or restaurant, but the conditions were far from ideal when discussing financial matters.
All that changed when I found roam. I stop by roam to make calls and set up appointments. While I’m there, I often grab a bite from their great menu selection and check out the programming that’s being offered. I’ve even given a seminar on how annuities can be part of an overall sound retirement investment strategy.
In addition to providing me with a great location to make calls and do paperwork outside the house, I have an ideal location to meet with people who use my services. I can greet my clients in the lounge and then meet with them privately in one of the conference rooms. I’ve also met a lot of great people at roam, including some new clients. However, I've also made a few friends through the club - my network has definitely expanded!

I work for a large corporation. It’s a great company to work for and I really enjoy my job. Several years ago, I was given the flexibility to work a few days at home. I liked working from home and last year, when my company was looking to reduce the amount of office space they had, I volunteered to become a full-time ‘mobile’ worker.
While it’s nice to be able to see the kids off to school in the morning and to be home for dinner, there are many times when my home is not the best place to work. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t miss the commute, but sometimes I just need a clear space, away from my house, where I can sit down, spread my work out and not have the distractions I have at my home. The conference rooms at roam are perfect for those times when I have to focus and with high-speed Internet access, I stay connected.
I also meet with my co-workers at roam. Sometimes we just meet to catch up. I miss the camaraderie I used to share with the people with whom I work. Meeting at roam for morning coffee or lunch is perfect. When my team needs to get together to work on a project, roam has the comfortable, professional atmosphere we need to get work done.
I appreciate the programming and education that roam offers, too. I’ve learned how to use some of the features in Microsoft Word to make even more professional looking documents for work. I’ve also learned about financial planning and investing, a few areas I have lots of knowledge gaps in. With the wide variety of programming options, I have the opportunity for both personal and professional growth!
I’m glad that I found roam. Being a member gives me the flexibility to work where it’s most convenient and makes me feel much less isolated.
